Al Rostamani Group pledges AED 10 million to accelerate Al Jalila Foundation’s pursuit of game-changing medical research

In a major boost to Al Jalila Foundation’s medical research endowment, the not-for-profit organisation has received a AED 10 million pledge from Al Rostamani Group. The grant is an extension of the Group’s lifelong contributions to pushing the frontiers of medical advancement in the UAE, which dovetail with the Foundation’s vision of making long-lasting and life-changing impacts to the nation’s health by enhancing medical treatment, education and research.

Expressing her gratitude, Her Excellency Raja Easa Saleh Al Gurg, member of the Board of Trustees and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Al Jalila Foundation, said: “Through this forward-thinking grant, the contribution of Al Rostamani Group will help us to make unprecedented progress in understanding today’s health problems and developing tomorrow’s novel solutions.

Through continued support from our generous donors we will relentlessly pursue, discover and apply new knowledge that can save and touch lives in all walks of life. As a token of our appreciation, the Foundation will name a special lecture hall in the education suite of our headquarters at Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre after Mr Abdullah Hassan Al Rostamani, the late founder of our generous benefactor.”

Mr Marwan Abdullah Al Rostamani, Chairman of Al Rostamani Group, said: “It is no easy feat to bring medical miracles within reach, and Al Jalila Foundation needs all the support it can get. By contributing in our own small way, I sincerely hope to motivate other philanthropists to join this movement for medical innovations so that the UAE can make a profound mark on the medical world.

We immensely appreciate the gesture of naming a lecture hall in the name of our late father as he had always been supportive of educational causes and medical initiatives that aim at serving the community and the nation.” Dr Abdulkareem Sultan Al Olama, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation added: “T

he cutting edge cures, vaccines, therapies, diagnostic tests, simulations and other medical innovations that save countless lives today are the fruits of the seeds planted years ago through research funding. Similarly if we hope to position the UAE at the frontiers of advanced healthcare, we need to set the groundwork today through more research contributions.

Modern lifestyles are evolving and raising new health challenges, so our biomedical research must also evolve to stay a step ahead.” To fund critical research, the Foundation is facilitating contributions through Etisalat SMS donation codes, mPay, cheque, bank transfer, telephonically or through other options listed on its website. Donors can also contribute Zakat and other donations towards medical treatment and education.
